 "A bad product" 2009-11-14
By nyc design (New York)
This remote is a lousy knock off of the old apple remote that used to come with the first generation iPod. So what's wrong with this product? In short, everything. The buttons are hard to push and don't function well. The play button often won't work and you have to pull out the iPod and manually hit play. It doesn't seem to be able to fast forward or rewind. The sound quality is poor. Music sounds tin-y and has no bass, it also has a lower volume than just plugging your headphones directly into the iPod. And the clip on the back is very small with almost no grip, it barely opens and can't hold onto anything, so it is constantly falling off.

 "Hard to rewind with" 2008-12-30
By B. Ruppel
I purchased this for a 4G iPod nano. It is compatible, but the design of the remote makes it very hard to use for fast-forward and rewinding. This is because all of the buttons sit flush with the rest of the remote surface. The buttons are smaller than in those of the original iPod remote (something that looks like this came with the older units) and I find them very hard to press.

The end result is that my thumbs feel bruised after trying to rewind a few times (to catch stuff on audiobooks) and I often have spotty button presses, resulting in accidental rewinding and fast-forwarding to the beginning / end. Also, the clip on the back is softer than the buttons on the front, so it is hard to press a button without opening the clip first.

If you don't want to scan forward or backward, this would probably be okay for you, although my iPod has unexpectedly stopped playing music while I wrestling with this remote, so there may be an issue as another reviewer has mentioned.

"Do Not Use With Iphone or Itouch!" 2008-06-20
By M. Schmidt
I bought this item thinking that it would work with the Ipod and other ipod systems..

I have an itouch.

All I wanted was something to use to go back and forth and not have to click the button, unlock the ipod and then switch the song or change the volume.

This is not that.

It kept turning off my Ipod. and it doesn't click onto anything... Everything is really nice about it. except that my Ipod kept turning off every 10 seconds because of it.

Remember. I have an Itouch, this might, and probably is different with older Ipods.

"Pretty good, just not for the iPhone" 2008-06-02
By Dylan C. Douglas
I got this for the iPhone, which it isn't made for, so it pops up the "this isn't made for an iPhone, do you want to enable airplane mode?" question every time I plug it in.

The earphone wire is just barely long enough to reach around and get into the earphone jack on the iPhone. The wire will make it, but I can see me breaking it by pulling on it too much one day.

I can see this being pretty good on a nano or video, but I think the iPhone and touch are going to be a bit annoying for this remote.

I've purchased 4 of these over the years, (they get lost) excellent remote controls with ff, pause, volume, track changing etc.
