I just got this iPod and I love it! This is my first iPod and I am impressed with its features, sound quality and ease of use. The sound is supbeb, the games are nice if you're bored, and it was very easy to learn how to use. The only thing I'm not thrilled with is the battery life; it could last a little longer, but it's not a big deal. The display is nice and clear and you can see what you're reading.
If you're an average Joe who is looking for a decent media player at a reasonable price, then I would look into this product! (I got the 16 GB model for $150; not a bad price considering it's Apple!)

I bought this to keep music running in my office and wanted to hook it into my existing speaker system. I did not know that it's one design flaw was that it could not be plugged into a regular set of speakers that are not attached to a computer and be charged with its own cord at the same time. I had to go look for a docking station that connected the wall socket, the speakers and the i-pod together. They do not exist. I had to buy a new docking/speaker system to keep it running continuously in my office.
Other than this problem, it has worked great, and I particularly like that it can hold all types of files, including stuff I record myself etc.

Great value. Easy to use. Bought it for my 10-year-old and she loves it.

Both my husband and daughter own this model, and are extremely happy with it. I finally broke down and bought one for myself. I could have bought the iPod nano 5th generation, but didn't need the extra features it offers and didn't want to pay more. Right after I ordered mine, the price went up. It now costs significantly more than what I paid, and is more expensive than the iPod nano 5th generation. If I were to purchase an iPod nano today, I would order the 5th generation, as it is cheaper than the 4th generation. I hope this review helps anyone who is comparison shopping.

Let me begin by saying, I love my iPod. It's been a good friend and highly used device since I got it last Christmas. Now then... in the past ten months, it has ceased to work six times. The first time, Apple fixed the problem over the phone. (Thumbs up to Sean at customer service.) Since then, the only thing that will fix it's freeze ups is to let the battery go completely dead and start all over. I still love this little jewel, but it's incredibly unreliable. For the money, I'd recommend trying a cheaper device... at least when a cheap one drives you to smashing it, you'll only be out a few bucks. No, I haven't smashed mine. I'm waiting for four days so someone from Apple will call and attempt to fix it. Again. I just want a player that actually works and doesn't freeze up whenever it decides. Aggrivating to no end.
But... when it works, it's great. So buyer beware.
