"Buggiest piece of junk I've ever had" 2009-11-28
By T. Duffy
This thing is the buggiest piece of electronic junk I've ever owned or used. Almost every time I sync it it gets stuck at the end and there's no way to turn it off, much less to remove the battery - a very stupid design from a company that prides itself to an embarrassing extent on design. I have to let the battery run out overnight, then dock it for a while, then after a while it's usable again (so far).

It also not infrequently skips from the middle of a piece to the next, and often just stops and displays a bizarre screen which seems to be saying, "I'm dying." Sometimes it stops for no reason and displays a more innocuous screen, but it's the same refusal to function. I've put a lot of time into cataloguing and organizing my classical music in iTunes and I'm afraid that, even if I can get it fixed, I'll have to spend a lot more time rebuilding a music library on a highly unreliable piece of junk. I'm seriously considering seeing how high I can throw it and enjoying the spectacle when it hits the pavement.

 "Difficult" 2009-11-27
By Michelle Thompson (Fl, USA)
I don't know if this is a shared problem or just with this IPod. I had to try many times to load my library from Lime wire to iTunes even though I had the specific directions. Then it took me forever to get the IPod to load my music. When it did it started loading the entire library instead of the playlist. Again I followed the directions to the letter. It didn't help that the apple site was almost completely down for three days. I cancelled the download and it absolutely refused to download the playlist. I needed the music ASAP so I attempted to download the entire playlist again and it wouldn't do it. I attempted it at least five times before contacting Apple. The service rep maddeningly took me through the same simple five steps. Twice. He then informed me that the IPod was not compatible with my music library. Apple promotes itself as being compatible with shared p2p music. On a hunch I deleted the entire library, reloaded it and the IPod accepted it. There is always the possibility it was a problem with ITunes. Definitely look up other reviews on it to be sure. And as always, if it doesn't work. Delete it and start from the beginning.

"Second One for My Family" 2009-11-24
By W. Howsley (Plano, TX)
I've owned a 30G iPod Classic for about two years and enjoyed it from the first day that I received it as a gift. My wife had tried a competing brand of MP3 player but found it ungainly to use, both in adding new selections and because of poor capacity. I bought the 120G Classic for her as a birthday present and I don't believe that she will exceed the capacity of this little marvel. Oh, by the way, I'm 73 years old and my wife is 70. As far as the machine is concerned, the sound is excellent and the ease of adding selections and overall use is exceptional. Kudos to Mr. Jobs and his team.

"holy cow, that's a lot of memory!" 2009-11-23
By austinguy (texas)
upgraded from the itty bitty 2GB nano to this 120GB beast with the intention of putting my entire music collection on it and selling my CDs for some extra cash. well... i've put every CD i own, some i've borrowed, a few movies, and the several hundred songs i've downloaded over the years. and let me tell ya... i will not be running out of room on this ipod anytime soon. 120GB is an INSANE amount of space!!! this may very well be my last ipod purchase. not because i'm dissatisfied in any way... but because i don't see myself ever needing additional memory in the near future! seriously, if you've got similar plans of making your entire music collection portable, i would definitely recommend investing in this piece of hardware. it's like having a cineplex and record store in your pocket. rock on!
